Engine bearings secure the position of the engine and the transmission and avoid their collision with the bodywork. Like all car parts, an engine bearing needs replacement at one time or another. This becomes evident when knocking sounds in the bodywork can be hard. Furthermore, the space between the engine bearing and the bodywork is a tell-tale sign. Due to mechanical motion of the engine and the ongoing weight shifting in curves, at start-up and braking puts the motor bearing under pressure. How to spot a defective engine bearing There are several warning signs, betraying a defective engine bearing. These signs become more evident in the course of time and consequently easier to notice. These signs are:
- -Rattling and knocking sounds in the engine, which can be heard clearly in the passenger cabin as well
-Possible leakage of oil from the bearing
-The space between bearing and bodywork getting narrower
